American Reef Coalition

The American Reef Coalition was incorporated as a Hawaii marine conservation nonprofit and an IRS approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in June of 2002.  The purpose was to protect one of the most endangered environments on our planet.  The living coral reef.

The tiny coral poyp has created the largest living structure on earth.  Coral reefs are home to over 2 million species of animals and plants and it is now one of the most endangered environments on our planet.  If we lose our coral reefs, over a billion people lose their food source.

Strange days indeed…

We are living in a time where every living system on our planet is in the state of decline and it’s all happening at a stupefying rate of acceleration.  Scientists are calling it “The Sixth Great Extinction”. The average extinction rate is now some 1,000 to 10,000 times faster than the rate that prevailed over the past 60 million years.

At this particular point in time, you have a choice... Kick-back and watch it unfold or choose a cause and help save our planet.

Saving The Planet, One Coral Reef At A Time…

The American Reef Coalition is based on the island of Maui in the Hawaiian islands.  Hawaii comprises approximately 80% of all the coral reef found in the United States and U.S. Territories.

Situated in the middle of the largest ocean on our planet and home to the second largest marine protected area in the world, the Hawaiian Islands may be the last stronghold for the living coral reef.
